Fans of rockabilly take note! A new single has been released featuring two leading ladies of rockabilly on a superb version of Shania Twain's country crossover hit "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" Oklahoma-born singer/songwriter and widely regarded “Queen Of Rockabilly,” Wanda Jackson, recorded her cover of Twain’s ode to female empowerment in 2005. More recently, Linda Gail Lewis, sister of rock n’ roll founding father Jerry Lee Lewis, recorded additional vocals on the track and the two were mixed together by punkabilly mastermind Rene D La Muerte of The Brains, who also provided an energetic new backing track.
Together this trio of talented artists craft a stunning version of the song that contains all the sass and attitude of the original while adding a good dose of musical maturity. Fans of Twain's country pop flavorings will find plenty to love here as will those who prefer a little more grit in their roots music. Either way the track is a celebration of female rockabilly artists who have gone unappreciated for too long!
The
single is also released on 7” vinyl backed with a killer version of
Jackson singing "Heartbreak Hotel" from her excellent 2006 album I
Remember Elvis!
