My Darling Fury is pleased to announce the premiere of their second single off of Licking Wounds,
titled “Spilled Milk.” The gorgeous track is laced with bright tones,
adoring strings, and singer Danny Reye's addictive smooth vocals. A
whirlwind of guitars join in, that bring a whole new life to the song.
Based out of Richmond, VA, My Darling Fury’s sound is noted for the contrast of dreamy soundscapes and post-rock passages. Singer Danny Reye’s vocals are heavenly as they intertwine perfectly with the gorgeous melodies provided by Todd Matthews, Joel Hollister, Alex McCallum and Clark Fraley.
Reyes shares some insight into “Spilled Milk”:
“Typically, I’d write a song about what a jerk that guy was but this time I thought I’d focus on the guy who was there and tried to console me. This song has a lot of American idioms and sayings in it: life is a cabaret, when life gives you lemon make lemonade, no use in crying over spilled milk, make the bed now lie in it, I shit the bed, and paint the town red. It will be impossible to translate into another language.”
Though the group approaches their music from a meticulous and artistic viewpoint, they aim to produce accessible and thoughtful pop-rock songs. After a triumphant 2013 releasing their debut, and joining Kishi Bashi on the road for several East Coast dates, 2014 is sure to bring continued success for the band.
